MERRIAM VOICES

AGES 4-7 & 7-18 | Weekly Sessions. $96 / $56 For Merriam Members

Whether it’s a first singing experience, or an extra-curricular add-on to an existing voice lesson, Merriam VOICES is a fun and social way to make singing a team sport. Merriam VOICES performs several times per year in supportive yet professional settings, creating the perfect blend of inspiration and motivation.

BAND START

AGES 9-14, Bi-Weekly. $109 / $60 For Merriam Members

BandStart is a bi-weekly (every other week) program perfect for younger students with some experience playing an instrument (or singing). These are less structured sessions than the more advanced streams, with a focus on fun application of the students’ existing musical knowledge.

Students will learn to play several diﬀerent parts, and in some cases on multiple instruments, as they discover what it means to be a part of an ensemble, all while learning some of the 20th and 201st century’s biggest pop and rock songs. Open to Merriam & Non-Merriam Students, and subject to a short audition and placement interview.

BEAT START

AGES 9-18, Bi-Weekly. $129 / $79 For Merriam Members

Beat start is Merriam’s entry-point into the world of music production, for students aged 9-18 who are eager to learn how today’s music is recorded, mixed and produced. Students work on individual and group projects throughout the year, while learning the fundamental elements of music production using Ableton Live.

Areas of instruction include:
• Beat-making • Sequencing drum beats, chord progressions and melodies • How to record vocals, and other instruments like piano and guitar • Using virtual instruments and effects plugins • Fundamentals of mixing music
